Commercial flights into Eagle County Regional Airport were delayed after a Coast Guard plane's nose gear collapsed upon landing Tuesday.
The HU-25 Falcon jet from Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi in Texas slid 1,000 feet on the runway before stopping, airport officials said. No injuries were reported. The Coast Guard said the jet's five-person crew noticed an abnormal vibration in the nose landing gear before it collapsed.
The Coast Guard was investigating what caused the mishap.
The Falcon fleet uses the mountain airport, which is near Vail, for high-altitude training.
The airport's runway will reopen today. It was closed by the accident.
